Upcoming Week/Potluck and Tailgate Events

Hello Band and Guard Families,

Mr. Johnson and the kids had a great first week of band camp and are looking forward to the second.

POTLUCK:  Friday, August 20th at 5:00PM

Please come out Friday evening to the band field (at the back of the school) by 5:00PM for a preview performance of the show!  The kids have been working hard and it promises to be a great season.  After the preview, the parents (at least one parent from each family should attend) will need to come the the PAC for a brief meeting before we eat.  Mr. Johnson and the band board members will present important information and later that evening will be on hand to collect dues.  Uniforms and coolers will be distributed at the end of the pot luck dinner, provided your dues are current.  Remember to bring your checkbook on Friday or send your payment in early this week to avoid the lines. Due at/before the Potluck: $100 Pre-Season practice, $125 1st Membership payment, $12 Igloo cooler.  New-to-Nease students would need to add $29 for marching shoes and gloves.  (No gloves for percussion).

Following the meeting we will eat together in the cafeteria.  To ensure that we have enough food, we ask that EVERYONE bring a dish which serves 12 - 16 people.

Uniform Bib Hemming and Marching Shoes

For the first time, as a fundraiser for the band, we are offering uniform bib hemming.  After asking multiple alterations locations, we found that the typical charge for hemming  bibs would be $8-$10.  Volunteers will hem your student's bibs with the entire $10 fee going to the band.  This will save you a trips to the alterations shop, your student can take their bibs home hemmed.   If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please send $10 cash or check (payable to Nease Band Boosters) in an envelope on MONDAY (8/16) marked with student name, what it is for, and place in the black payment box in Mr. Johnson's office.

If you choose to hem bibs yourself or take them elsewhere, remember the bibs should never be cut off, simply hemmed to the correct length.  If the bibs are cut you will be responsible for the cost of the bibs.

Students will be fit for marching shoes on Wednesday.  The shoe representative will only be here the one day,  so returning students be sure to check the size and condition of your shoes as well.  Shoes and gloves are billed to your student accounts.

THE SHNACK:

As many of you know, we have been working all summer to bring our concession stand up to the new codes required by the state.   A HUGE, HUGE thank you goes out to  Billy Smith,  Alan Osborn, Robert Osborn, Sean Triplett, Stephanie Triplett, Derian Triplett,  Robin Smith, Andy Cummick, Scott Collings, and Cramer Ward-Collings who came out on Saturday to tear down the old building.  It was a really tough job and they did a great job.  Our new building will be on site in the next week or so and we will need help with the construction of the inside, perhaps with short notice.  If you are interested and can volunteer, we need your time and/or talent!  Please contact Susan Cummick at scummick (at) aol (dot) com  We will let you know time and dates as soon as we know.  We will need help installing insulation, sheet rock, flooring, etc. along with moving items into the building.
